In winter, the mountain was covered with snowstorm. No sign of animals were felt, and no sound was heard except for snowing. There was a man with a short sword and a buckler walking alone. In thick clothes the body was covered with muscle like steel, and the face was wild.Suddenly, the man stopped walking. Because a big animals’ carcass lied on the snow.
‘’It is strange. This animal is very strong. It can be difficult to kill that.’’ the man thought.
Then a horrifying monster came out. The fangs and claws were sharp. The figure was like a dragon. As soon as the monster finds the man, it rushed at him violently. The man defended with the buckler, but…..he flied into deep darkness.
The man woke up in a small house. He put up with his back pain and got up slowly. The man’s name was Smith. He was a hunter. You will ask what a hunter is. The hunter is employed by a village and hunts animals and earns a material and a bonus. He would go to a Samon village to work under there, but…
‘’What was that monster? I have never seen that…’’
‘’Are you O.K?’’Voice interrupted his thoughts. An old woman came into this house. Her face was filled with fatigue.
‘’Yes, I’m O.K. Where am I?’’
‘’This is Samon village.’’ She replyed and began to talk about helping him. When she was gathering some food, she found Smith. She helped him and took him to her house in Samon village.
‘’Fortunately your injury is light, so you can walk alone. Please make yourself at home.’’
‘’Oh, I remember. I saw a big horrified monster. Do you know what it is?’’
‘’What!? Don’t joke. I…I can’t believe that is alive.’’ She was embarrassed‘’What is that?.’’
‘’Well, the name is Ork. Ork attacked this village ten years ago. A man who came from the other village killed Ork, but he was injured. Now the man is the leader of this village and his name is Vally. If you want to know about Ork, meet him after you get well.’’
Two days later, Smith went to the house on the hill to met Vally. Vally was a stout eldrly man, but looked so gentle.
''Please sit down on the chair.'' Vally said. Smith sat down on a gorgerous chair near him.
''Nice to meet you, Smith. I'm Vally. I was informed of you by Elza.Welcome to Samon village, a new hunter.''
''Elza may be the old woman,'' Smith thought.
''By the way,'' Vally cintinued. ''Was it true that you saw Ork? I could kill it...''
''Yes, it is true,'' Smith said.
''Well, I want to kill it again, but I can't move smoothly now. So I ask you to kill Ork. However, because Ork is very strong, I can't force you. What is your opinion?''
''I want to go, because it is my work,''Smith answered earnestly.
''Hm, you are a good hunter. You can stop Ork.'' Vally stood up and brought a big sword from basement.
''This sword's name is Kannagi. When I battled Ork, I use it. Please use it.'' Vally smiled and shake Smith's hand.
''Thank you, Vally I will absolutely kill Ork,'' Smith said and went out of the house.
Smith went back to the moutain with Kannagi. Suddenly Ork came out and was biting violently. Momentarily he shield with Kannagi and kicked head. Ork staggered fou a moment and was the guard.
‘’This is my Chance!!’’ he thought. He swinged down to Ork’s head. Kannagi hit the middle of Ork's forehead and it fell down. Then the body of Ork was shining and changed the figure. The figure was like a human, and Smith saw him.
‘’Vally…’’ He couldn’t understand this situation and was confused.
‘’Smith, isn't that you?’’ Vally gave a groan. His blood flowes down on the snow.‘’I noticed that I was Ork many years ago. When I killed Ork, I could be cursed by it. I can’t say anything to every people of Samon because I am a leader of Samon village, so I protect the village.But…’’ Vally vomited blood and continued.
''I have no time. I ask you again. Will you imform everyone of the fact and protect the village?''
''O.K. I promise.'' Smith said with teas, but Vallu didn't replyed.
Ten years later, Smith becomes the leader of Samon village now. Kannagi is sleeping till Ork wakes up again.
